Pandering to the 'Gimme' Generation

Parasites chipping away at our children's future

We keep hearing it from the OWS protesters, and from liberals alike, "why should they be able to make that much money?"

The main staple of the progressive/liberal agenda is the idea of "evil, greedy rich people." Jealousy is a human emotion that can be triggered quite easily under the right circumstances. People can identify with "he has so much, and I have so little, that's not fair."

Today we have this generation "gimme," that is constantly asking for more: "gimme money, gimme a job, gimme free money for school, etc." The one universal truth when it comes to entitlements is, NOTHING IS FREE! Just because you are deferring the cost to someone else does not mean that someone is not paying for it. The financial problems in Europe right now are a direct result of promising too much, and not being able to fulfill those promises. This, in turn, leads to a lot of pissed-off people that have become complacent with always having the "nanny state" come in on its white horse and save the day.

America has always been about personal accountability, and the individual.   Why someone would think that someone is obligated to give them a job, just for the sake of employing someone, is beyond me. People are hired when a company has the demand for an increase in their product and/or service.  Businesses are about providing a consumer-friendly product or service for profit, not for the sole reason of giving people jobs.

And as far as the redistribution of wealth goes, that argument will never hold up. Redistribution has only one implied justification, and that is an entirely subjective idea that someone is greedy because they are successful.  Entitlements need to be used as little as possible, and the ones that do exist need to have limitaitions and a clear path to achieving independence again.

One should not be allowed to "coast" through life on government benefits.  We need to have citizens that want to work their tails off and be successful at all costs, rather than people that want a handout.
