Burns 7th-Grader Accused Of Threatening Students
A 12-year-old Burns Middle School student has been arrested for making a threat against students on SnapChat.
LITHIA, FL -- A 12-year-old Burns Middle School student has been arrested for making a threat against students on the social media app, SnapChat.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a student approached a school resource deputy at Barrington Middle School, 5925 Village Center Drive, Lithia, about the threat Thursday around 11:30 a.m.
The post referenced an intention to carry out a school shooting. stating, "Dear bms students I will be shooting that skool [sic] up September 3 2019 be ready say your goodbyes to you're [sic] family because that is finel [sic]...Goodluck (; be ready."

The school resource deputy at Burns Middle School in Valrico was notified immediately and confronted the seventh-grade girl who admitted to posting the message and then deleting it.
She is facing felony charges of making a written threat to kill, do bodily injury or conduct mass shooting or act of terrorism.

"The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office takes all school threats, verbal, written or posted to social media, very seriously," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We have a zero-tolerance policy. It is important for parents to know what their children are posting online. If you make a school threat, of any kind, you will be arrested and charged accordingly."
The sheriff's office released the name of the student but it is Patch policy not to use the names of juveniles arrested for crimes.
