A Caravan Celebration For Riverview Scholarship Winners

BLOOMINGDALE-RIVERVIEW, FL — Scholarship recipients of the Dr. Earl Lennard scholarship walked out of their homes on June 17 to cheering, clapping and honking as a caravan put together by the Riverview Woman's Club and Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce highlighted their accomplishments, a news release said.

An LED box truck lit up with each recent high school graduate and scholarship recipient's name and achievement as it led the caravan along the streets.

Normally, the students would be recognized for their accomplishments in person but since the coronavirus pandemic is causing the world to live a new normal for the time being, the Riverview Woman's Club and Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce put this special event together.

The scholarship recipients graduated from local high schools including Bell
Creek Academy, East Bay High, Lennard High, and Riverview High.

The scholarship recipients have chosen to attend these colleges:

• Allison Powers will be attending Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) in Fort Myers.
• Chanel Campbell will be attending Howard University in Washington, DC.
• Willow Morgan will be attending Florida Atlantic University(FAU) in Boca Raton.
• Ashley Aagaard, Gabriela Chitica, Gian Galarza, and Vivian Do will all be attending the University of South Florida (USF) in Tampa.

GRCC and Riverview Woman’s Club said they are proud of what they accomplished, and look forward to their success in their continued education.
