Century-Old Lithia Home Destroyed In Fire

The cause of the blaze that destroyed the Jameson home in Lithia remains under investigation.

LITHIA, FL — A Lithia home built in 1916 was destroyed in a Wednesday night blaze.

According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, the fire broke out at 1019 Jameson Road just before 8 p.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the two-story, wood-frame house fully involved, an email from the agency said.

“This house was the original Jameson House built in 1916,” the email noted. Two people who were renting the home, a man and woman, were not injured in the blaze.

Putting out the flames, fire rescue said, was complicated by secondary fires that occurred due to downed powerlines. Explosions also erupted due to 20-pound propane tanks getting caught in the flames, the agency noted.

No injuries were reported, but the Red Cross is assisting the displaced family, fire rescue said.
