Checkers Manager From Lithia Charged With Raping Employee

Vongkoth Lay Vorasan is alleged to have sexually assaulted an employee twice at the Seffner restaurant. The victim recorded the second attack on her cell phone, Hillsborough County Sheriff's investigators said.

The general manager at a Checkers in Seffner is charged with sexually assaulting one of his employees in the restaurant's bathroom, with the victim recording one of the attacks on her cell phone, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office reports.

Vongkoth Lay Vorasan, 30, of 16815 Hawkridge Rd., Lithia, faces two counts of sexual battery. Investigators said he followed a female employee into the bathroom Thursday afternoon at the fast food restaurant at 603 Martin Luther King Blvd. and raped her.

Vorasan allegedly continued assaulting the victim until he was interrupted by someone knocking on the bathroom door, the sheriff's office said.

The next afternoon, Vorasan is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victim a second time in the restaurant, except this time the victim used her cell phone to record the attack and could be heard telling Vorasan "no" and him threatening her, sheriff's office spokesman Larry McKinnon said in a media release.

Vorasan was arrested at 10:45 p.m. Friday at the restaurant, McKinnon said.

"During an interview with detectives, Vorasan admitted to sexually assaulting the victim," McKinnon said.

Vorasan was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail with no bond.
