Clearwater Police Officer, K-9 Companion Injured In Crash

A Clearwater Police officer and his K-9 companion have been given a clean bill of health after being involved in an accident.

CLEARWATER, FL -- A Clearwater Police officer and his K-9 companion have been given a clean bill of health after being involved in an accident at Rosery and Clearwater-Largo roads Tuesday, May 29, around 9:52 p.m.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident involving a Clearwater Police cruiser and another vehicle.

According to police, Officer Jesse Myers was responding to a report of a stolen car traveling south on Missouri Avenue when his cruiser collided with a car before striking a light pole. The car was not involved in the stolen vehicle investigation.

The officer was taken to Morton Plant Hospital to be treated for his injuries. Two people in the other car were taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment. And the K-9 was taken to a local veterinary clinic.
