Confirmed Coronavirus Cases In Hillsborough County Reaches 1,280

According to the Florida Department of Health, the state has 38,002 coronavirus cases; about 1.2K are in Hillsborough County.

BLOOMINGDALE-RIVERVIEW, FL — As of May 7, Hillsborough County has a total of 1,280 positive coronavirus cases, according to the Florida Department of Health, and 33 deaths. The state has 38,002 confirmed cases and 1,539 deaths, reports the Florida Department of Health. There have been 6,557 hospitalizations across the state. The median age in Hillsborough County is 45.

In a Tweet sent out Thursday by the Florida Department of Health, it said, "It is not always visible if someone has a compromised immune system. You can protect the most vulnerable from #COVID19 by practicing social distancing. Always maintain at least 6 feet between yourself and others."

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms of coronavirus include:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

Children have similar symptoms to adults and generally have mild illness.
This list is not all inclusive. Other less common symptoms have been reported, including gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

When to seek medical attention:
If you have any of these emergency warning signs for coronavirus, get medical attention immediately:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest
  • New confusion or inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips or face
