Deputy Injured In Crash Released From Hospital

The Hillsborough County deputy was injured in a crash early Tuesday morning.

A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputy injured in an early Tuesday morning crash on Balm Riverview Road has been released from the hospital.

The sheriff’s office made the announcement of Deputy Yvette Hibbard’s release from the hospital around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Hibbard, 32, was at the intersection of Balm Riverview Road and Panther Trace Boulevard around 2:54 a.m. when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by Alexander Henley, 25, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hibbard was pinned inside her vehicle, the agency noted in and email to media.

First responders “had to use the jaws of life to cut the vehicle in a way that Deputy Hibbard could be removed,” the agency said.

Hibbard was taken to Tampa General Hospital. Henley was not injured in the crash, the sheriff's office said.

The investigation into the crash remains active with charges pending.
