Dozens Of Parts, 12 Stolen Vehicles Discovered At Riverview Home

RIVERVIEW, FL — A Riverview couple has been arrested after 12 stolen vehicles and dozens of car parts were found during a search of their home.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said Joshua Scott, 26, and Jessica Vollrath, 47, are accused of operating a chop shop at 10505 Symmes Road. They were each charged with grand theft and operating a chop shop.

The sheriff's office received several tips that a vehicle salvage business was being operated illegally out of the home. When deputies arrived to speak to the residents and inspect the property Wednesday, they found two stolen motorcycles.

After obtaining a search warrant, deputies discovered 10 additional vehicles including cars, trucks and motorcycles, many of which had vehicle identification numbers either scratched off or altered. The license plates had also been removed.

Hillsborough County Code Enforcement also responded and found the property owners to be in violation county codes. They had already collected $385,000 in fines.

“The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will continue to identify and dismantle these criminal enterprises that target the people we serve and their property,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister. “We ask everyone to remember that the best way to avoid becoming the victim of an auto theft is to keep your vehicle locked at all times and never leave your key or key fob in your vehicle.”
