Driver Dies in Balm-Riverview Road Crash

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate why the Honda driven by Francisco Sotelo left the road and hit a tree, killing the driver.

According to the sheriff's office, Sotelo, 72, of 7017 Clark Ave. N., Tampa, was driving his 2000 Honda Civic north on Balm-Riverview Road, one mile south of Triple Creek Boulevard at 5:17 p.m. Dec. 11. For unknown reasons, the car veered to the right side of the road, entered a ditch and then struck a tree.

Sotelo died at Tampa General Hospital at 10:53 p.m.
