Horseback-Riding Camp

Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation is offering an Equestrian Summer Camp at the Bakas Center, 11510 Whisper Lake Trail in Tampa. This camp is open to children ages 5 to 17 who love horses and have always wanted to learn to ride. The cost for this camp is $50 per day or $250 per week. 
 
Camps will be held on July 11-15, July 18-22 and July 25-29, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Activities vary and may include horse care, riding, arts/crafts, fishing, canoeing, carriage riding, hay rides, slip and slide and possible off-site field trips.
 
Fridays are Horse Show Day. Parents are encouraged to come watch their child compete and see how they have progressed through the week of lessons. Extended care is available for an additional fee.

The Bakas Equestrian Center is part of the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department. The center offers introductory riding lessons, games on horseback, basic to advanced riding skills, competition in Special Olympics and challenge shows, driving with horse and carriage, trail rides and more. It also offers riding to the general public, including scheduled trail rides and birthday parties.
