The Museum of Science & Industry, 4801 E. Fowler Ave., Tampa, will host public programming inside "Idea Zone!" from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends beginning Dec. 31.
Activities include high-tech gaming and simulations, fashion design, robot building and science experiments. Make imagination reality in MOSI’s Idea Zone! weekend play shops or themed weekend events.
Dec. 31 and Jan. 1: Into the Future - Get a glimpse of future technology with nanotechnology and new materials.
Jan. 7 and 8: Build a Dino! - Use cool tools and imagination to make dinosaur friends and Jurassic Art.
Jan. 14 and 15: Melting Stuff - Mold groovy crayons, plastic people and scented candles.
Jan. 21 and 22: Tactile Art - Nothing is more touching than creating your own Braille masterpieces.
Jan. 28 and 29: Photo Fanatics - Perfect personal image through the lens of a professional portrait photographer.
Feb. 4 and 5: Sentsations - Make perfumes, love potions, bath potions and scented talc gifts.
Feb. 11 and 12: Gifts with Heart - Use high-tech tools to make original and heart inspired gifts.
Feb. 18 and 19: Threads with Pizzazz – Design exciting patterns based on math, science and silliness, then make them real through embroidery.
Feb. 25 and 26: Animated Art - Celebrate the invention of the cinema by creating characters and a motion picture book.
