What: Parenting Class for Divorce

When:  Various dates

Time:   From 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: Hillsborough County Extension Service, 5339 County Road 579 in Seffner.

Hillsborough County Extension Service is offering classes for those who are going through a divorce and have children. The four-hour course is required by the State of Florida when a child is involved in the divorce or custody process, and includes:
Shared parenting and permanency of the parental role
Child development stages and impacts of a divorce on children
Communicating with your children
Communicating with the other parent
Child abuse /neglect and spouse abuse
Legal concepts and community resources
Families in transition
Helping children understand and cope with divorce

Couples may only attend the same session with special permission. The cost of the class is $25 and includes a workbook. A sliding fee scale is available. Children are not permitted in the class.

Participants must bring picture identification to class, such as a driver’s license.
