The Bridges Retirement Community, 11202 Dewhurst Drive, Riverview, is partnering with the American Association for Wartime Veterans (AAWV) in helping to educate wartime veterans about a benefit through the federal "Improved Pension with Aid and Attendance" that can help offset the cost of living in a retirement community for a wartime veteran or his/her surviving spouse.
Any member of any branch of the armed services who served at least 90 days during a war is eligible for $1,644 or more reimbursement for assisted or independent living expenses if they have served in the military during World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam era or other more recent conflicts.
The Bridges holds regularly scheduled seminars to assist potential applicants with the process. Call The Bridges at 813-413-8900, for reservations for the next seminar on Tuesday, July 26, at 6:30 p.m.
