Fast Action Keeps Attic Fire In Ruskin From Spreading To Home

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was able to put out the fire in five minutes using a 2-inch hand attack line device.

RUSKIN, FL — In the nick of time, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue crews arrived at a house fire on Dovesong Trace in Ruskin, preventing an attic fire from spreading and destroying the home.

Fire rescue crews were called at 5:48 p.m. Friday. The first crews that arrived from Engine 17 initially reported no smoke or flames visible from the front of the home.

However, it took crews less than one minute to determine the fire was in the attic. The firefighters stretched a 2-inch hand attack line through the front door and up the stairs, extinguishing the flames in the attic in just five minutes.

Their quick discovery of the fire, along with rapid deployment and use of the attack line, kept the blaze from rapidly spreading throughout the attic and into the home.

There was no one home at the time.
