FBI Arrests Former County Commissioner

Former County Commissioner Kevin White was taken into custody by FBI agents this morning.

The embattled former county commissioner, Kevin White, is now facing federal corruption charges.

FBI agents went to White's home in Riverview this morning and took him into custody on multiple charges related to his tenure on the county's Public Transportation Commission, according to an FBI press release.

The transportation commission regulates cab, limousine and private ambulance services.

White, who lost his bid to be re-elected to the county commission last year, is accused of accepting money for helping to get a towing company on the county's list of towing companies that provide towing services to county law enforcement.

Tampa towing company owner George Hondrellis also was charged, accused of bribing White to get preferential treatment.

White faces 10 federal charges including bribery, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and lying to an FBI agent. If convicted, the maximum penalty would be 80 years in prison.
