FishHawk Ranch Man Charged With 100 Counts Of Child Pornography

LITHIA, FL -- A FishHawk Ranch man is facing 100 counts of possessing child pornography following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Michael J. Furey, 46, of the 25000 block of Dunlinwood Lane on Monday.

Acting on the tip from the national center, members of the sheriff's Internet Predator Unit served a search warrant on Furey's home on Nov. 15 during which they seized a computer.

A subsequent forensic examination of the computer revealed more than 100 images of child pornography. Some images depicted children as young as 5 years old involved in sexual acts.

A warrant for Furey's arrest was issued Nov. 19 and today Furey surrendered himself at the Hillsborough County Courthouse. He was taken into custody and booked into the Orient Road Jail.
