Florida Hospital Elves Deliver More Than 850 Toys To School

Holiday elves from Florida Hospital Tampa delivered more than 850 toys to Mort Elementary School Monday.

TAMPA, FL -- Using a box truck in place of Santa's sleight, holiday elves from Florida Hospital Tampa delivered more than 850 toys to Mort Elementary School Monday to be distributed to the students before the Christmas break.

In a tradition that dates back 20 years, Florida Hospital employees and volunteers arrived at the school at 1806 E. Bearss Ave. with a truck load of new, unwrapped toys for the teachers at Mort to wrap and distribute to their students.

The toy collection and delivery is a 20-year tradition for Florida Hospital Tampa, 3100 E. Fletcher Ave.

Each year the hospital at 3100 E. Fletcher Ave. fills Christmas wish lists for each student at the school where 98 percent of the students are below the poverty level.

Mort is a community partnership school that Florida Hospital Tampa supports year-round.
