Gas Fuels Fire That Destroys Garage In Riverview

A Riverview resident was changing a fuel pump on his car in his garage when something ignited the gasoline in the car's gas tank.

RIVERVIEW, FL — A Riverview resident was changing a fuel pump on his car in his garage when something ignited the gasoline in the car's gas tank, causing a blaze that ignited the gas tanks of another vehicle and a motorcycle, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was called to a home at 9614 Laurel Ledge Drive Saturday at 4:18 and found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the garage.

Fire rescue units began an aggressive attack, limiting the fire to only the garage and part of the laundry room of the home next to the garage.
