On Tuesday, June 23, 2020 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted their monthly membership meeting online via Zoom. During this meeting, members had the chance to learn about our 2 re-imagined annual events and celebrate all of our new and renewing members. 2020 GRCC President Mike Jones, Florida DOE Vocational Rehabilitation, provided the day’s prayer. Leading the meeting this month in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Daniel Cyral of Hypnotic Engagements.

President Mike Jones welcomed everyone who joined the virtual monthly membership meeting. He noted the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce is not hosting any in person meetings until further notice. He announced the Emergency Policy Group (EPG) activated an ordinance for the requirement of masks in all businesses in Hillsborough County. He congratulated Dave Ramirez with Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation on his promotion to Athletics Manager and recognized Congressman Ross Spano, 15th District of Florida for his achievement on receiving the The Abraham Lincoln Leadership for America Award.

Valued member, Michael Broussard with The Flying Locksmiths was on the agenda to officially announce our re-imagined Taste of GRCC annual event. This event is open to the public and the goal is to promote consumer confidence and increase social media engagement for our local food & beverage establishments. He explained the process for participating in this event and encouraged members to join the Facebook group as well as invite their friends and family to join the group. He recognized our current Taste of GRCC sponsors, prize donors, and closed with our event slogan…Order, Eat, Submit, Repeat, WIN!

Nikki Foster with The Mosaic Company took a few minutes to talk about our re-imagined Teaching to Excellence event. She explained the new Adopt-A-School program which is the way we are pivoting this year’s event due to the current restrictions. She mentioned that sponsors will have the opportunity to provide their selected school with school supplies and recognize that schools Teacher of the Year through a highlight video. She encouraged members to reach out GRCC Event Coordinator, Gabby Morford if they were interested in adopting a school.
During this Zoom meeting, 2019 Ambassador of the Year, Joe Eletto, Century 21 Beggins, spoke on behalf of the June Member Spotlight, Austin Michael, Karma Marketing LLC. Tanya Doran, GRCC Executive Director then chose the June Member Spotlight to be Alex Fernandez with Affari Transportation.

At this month’s meeting, Debbie Kirkland, GRCC Membership Director, welcomed 14 New GRCC Members. Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC, provided recognition to the 50 renewing members.

President Mike Jones closed out the meeting by reminding everyone to stay safe, wear masks, and socially distance when in public. He also reminded everyone that the Taste of GRCC has begun. He encouraged everyone to invite their friends and family to join in the fun and support local food & beverage establishments in the area.
The next GRCC Virtual Monthly Membership Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2020. The GRCC luncheons are typically held the fourth Tuesday of every month from 11:30am-1:00pm and the public is welcome to attend ($30 charge for non-members). RSVPs are requested.
