Highlights From The August Greater Riverview Chamber Membership Meeting

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted their virtual monthly membership meeting on Zoom. Pastor Walter Robbins, Next Level Church, provided the day’s invocation. Leading the meeting this month in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Daniel Cyral of Hypnotic Engagements. Richard Rohde, R Processor, Inc. recognized Vince Cardella, Hillsborough County Veterans Helping Veterans Inc, during our Military Recognition.

President Mike Jones, Florida DOE Vocational Rehabilitation welcomed everyone who joined the virtual monthly membership meeting. He announced that starting next week, GRCC will be accepting applications for the 2021 Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He encouraged attendees to consider applying for one of the volunteer seats. He also congratulated Michael Broussard with The Flying Locksmiths who was recently chosen to be the 2021 President-Elect (2022 GRCC President). Next year Michael Broussard will work alongside Janet Noah, The Bridges Retirement Community, whom Mike Jones also congratulated for being selected as our 2021 President.

Included in this month’s monthly membership meeting, GRCC welcomed our new Hillsborough County Administrator, Bonnie Wise to speak with attendees. She gave attendees updates on Hillsborough County’s financials. She shared her spreadsheet of Riverview projects that Hillsborough County is spending their money on. She also provided lots of valuable information on Hillsborough County's R3 Program. This program will provide dollars to small businesses in Hillsborough County that are in need as well as individual county residents. She explained to attendees that the application will re-open on August 31st and stated more information can be found at http://hcflgov.net/R3biz.

GRCC Event Coordinator, Gabby Morford updated all attendees on the new GRCC Rediscover, Innovate, and Celebrate Events. She gave details on the few upcoming smaller in-person gatherings (Happy Hours, Munch & Mingle, and Ribbon Cuttings) for members to know about. She noted that GRCC is requiring masks & recommending social distancing at all future in-person events. Bill Andrew, Tessera of Brandon announced that this year’s Honorary Mayor Race applications are open until September 15th if anyone is interested in running to be the 2021 Honorary Mayor of Riverview. He advocated for the Honorary Mayor position and let attendees know that it is a great position to be in to market your business. Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC educated members about their Directory Listings. She noted that if members had an enhanced package or higher that this benefit was included in their membership. She encouraged members to double check their directory listing to ensure that all contact information is correct and up to date.

During this meeting, 2019 Ambassador of the Year, Joe Eletto, Century 21 Beggins, spoke on behalf of the August Member Spotlight, Joe Zuba, Vice President JPMorgan Chase - Retired. Sierra Carch, GRCC Administrative Services Manager then chose the September Member Spotlight to be Michael Isaak, Isaak Law PLLC.

At this month’s meeting, Debbie Kirkland, GRCC Membership Director, welcomed 8 New GRCC Members. President Elect Janet Noah, The Bridges Retirement Community and Michael Broussard, The Flying Locksmiths provided recognition to the 58 renewing members.

President Mike Jones closed out the meeting by congratulating all of the day’s door prize winners and gave a huge thank to all who donated door prizes. His last remark was an inspirational saying stating, “You can get anything in life you want if you just help enough other people get what they want.”
