Highlights From The GRCC September Monthly Membership Meeting

On Tuesday, September 22, 2020 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted their virtual monthly membership meeting on Zoom. Pastor Tina Blount, ARISE Assembly of God at Southshore, provided the day’s invocation. Leading the meeting this month in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Daniel Cyral of Hypnotic Engagements. Richard Rohde, R Processor, Inc. recognized Lasandra & Arnold Talleyrand, The Learning Experience - Rivercrest, during our Military Recognition.

President Mike Jones, Florida DOE Vocational Rehabilitation welcomed everyone who joined the virtual monthly membership meeting. He reminded everyone that GRCC is accepting applications for the 2021 Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors through September 30th. He encouraged attendees to consider applying for one of the volunteer seats. During this message, he announced that GRCC’s annual Halloween event, Trick or Treat Street will not be taking place this year. He advocated for other fellow chamber member events that are being planned and executed such as the Campo YMCA (October 23rd) and Spurlino YMCA (October 30th) Trunk or Treat Parades as well as the Water Smart Tots Community Halloween Bash on October 24th.

GRCC welcomed Gerri Kramer, Chief Communications Officer, Representing Craig Latimer, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections to be the speaker for this meeting. Ms. Kramer dove into the topic of voting and the ways Hillsborough County residents could vote this year. She encouraged attendees to request a mail in ballot if they do not feel comfortable going to the polls to vote in person. She mentioned Hillsborough County will have 26 locations for residents to vote at this year and that early voting will take place from October 19th to November 1st. During the new business segment of our meeting, Christian Beiter, Preservation 1st Financial Group, LLC spoke to attendees about our upcoming ribbon cuttings, Munch & Mingle events, and Happy Hours. He encouraged attendees to register for these various events as most have capacity limits and sell out quickly. Janice Bayruns, FirstLight Home Care talked about our scheduled TurboChatter NetworkNite happening on Wednesday, October 21st from 4-6 PM. She also encouraged attendees to register for this exhilarating speed networking event. There is no limit of attendees for TurboChatter NetworkNite and it is taking place via Zoom. Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC announced this year’s re-imagined Political Forum, the Meet YOUR Candidates Series taking place on various days from September 28th - October 9th. She detailed the various sessions explaining that the sessions will be broken up into different races to provide a more interactive experience for the candidates and attendees. Bill Andrew, Tessera of Brandon announced the 2 mayor candidates for our 2021 Honorary Mayor Race of Riverview. Shirley Bhat, FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club will be supporting the Riverview Woman’s Club and FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club. Patrick Crowne, The Forge Irish Pub will be supporting the South County Spartans Athletic Program Inc. and Seed of Hope, Inc. The Honorary Mayor Race of Riverview kickoff event will take place at our Munch & Mingle on Tuesday, October 13th.

During this meeting, 2019 Ambassador of the Year, Joe Eletto, Century 21 Beggins, recognized the September Member Spotlight, E. Michael Isaak, Isaak Law PLLC. Sierra Carch, GRCC Administrative Services Manager then chose the October Member Spotlight to be Doug Driggers, Tampa Electric Co.

At this month’s meeting, Debbie Kirkland, GRCC Membership Director, welcomed 10 New GRCC Members. Michael Broussard, The Flying Locksmiths provided recognition to the 41 renewing members.
