Hillsborough County Public Utilities Reports Wastewater Spill

Hillsborough County reports on a wastewater spill in the western portion of Royal Pines Avenue in Riverview on September 26.

Spill report:

  • Public Utilities received reports of a sewer overflow at 4 manholes at the Western Portion of Royal Pines Ave. in the Triple Creek subdivision in Riverview at 8:33 a.m. on Sept. 29, 2016.
  • A County electrician was dispatched and found a pump tripped at the associated pump station, causing the overflow. The pump was reset and the overflow stopped at 9 a.m.
  • It is estimated that approximately 750 gallons flowed into the storm drain and adjacent retention pond.
  • The street was washed down.
  • The spill was reported to the required State Regulatory Agency at 9:50 a.m. and the Environmental Protection Commissioner at 9:45 a.m.
  • There is no immediate impact to residences or businesses.
