Hillsborough Sheriff's Detention Deputy Arrested For DUI
A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Detention Deputy has been arrested for driving under the influence.

RIVERVIEW, FL -- A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Detention Deputy has been arrested for driving under the influence.
On Saturday, July 21, at 3:30 a.m., deputies responded to the McDonald's parking lot at 9870 U.S. 301 S. in Riverview where they learned that Deputy Jose Cruz, a three-year veteran of the sheriff's office, was driving his 2011 Ford Ranger in the McDonald's parking lot when he struck two cement poles and the truck got stuck on a cement median.
Cruz was asked to participate in field sobriety exercises where impairment was observed. He was arrested for DUI and provided two breath samples resulting in a blood-alcohol count of .189 and .196. The legal limit is 0.15. He was transported to Orient Road Jail. Per standard operating procedure, he was suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.
