Inmate Dies In Hospital; Police Investigating Death

TAMPA, FL — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detectives are conducting an investigation surrounding the death of an inmate housed at the Falkenburg Road Jail.

On July 8, inmate Jason Charles Zoet, 58, suffered a medical episode and was taken to Tampa General Hospital where he died July 13. Zoet had a preexisting medical condition. The cause of death is pending the results from the medical examiner's office.

The Apollo Beach man was arrested at 11109 Winthrop Market St., Riverview, May 1 and charged with driving under the influence with property damage, refusal to submit to testing and driving with an invalid license.
