Lennard Student Arrested After Bringing Pellet Gun To School

A 15-year-old Lennard High School student has been arrested after bringing a loaded pellet pistol to school in his backpack.

RUSKIN, FL – A 15-year-old Lennard High School student has been arrested after bringing a loaded pellet pistol to school in his backpack.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the school’s resource deputy was told Thursday, Feb. 1, that there might be a weapon on campus.

School officials immediately canceled the bells alerting students to a classroom change so they could restrict the movement of the students on campus.

The resource deputy and school administrators quickly found the student with the pellet pistol in his backpack. The sheriff’s office said the pistol was functional.

The student was charged with felony possession of a weapon on school property and one count of disrupting school. He was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
