Lightning Strikes Recreational Vehicle; Fire Threatens Riverview Home

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was able to prevent a Riverview home from catching fire after lightning struck a recreational vehicle.

RIVERVIEW, FL — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue was able to prevent a Riverview home from catching fire after lightning struck a nearby recreational vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:28 p.m., Engine 16 was the first to arrive, using handlines to reach the fire until fire rescue water tankers arrived.

Although the RV was a total loss, firefighters were able to get the blaze under control in 20 minutes and stop it from spreading to the home.
