Man Dies In Single-Car Accident On Lithia-Pinecrest Road

VALRICO, FL – A 39-year-old man was killed Sunday, April 29 at about 4:16 a.m. when his car flipped over and he was ejected.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, John Michael Mackey, no known address, was traveling east on Lithia-Pinecrest Road in a two-door, 1995 gold Honda Accord when his car suddenly drove off the south shoulder at the Alafia River. The car flipped over. Mackey, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and died at the scene.

Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the accident.
