Motorcyclist Killed in Gibsonton Drive Crash

A 55-year-old Gibsonton man is dead following a Tuesday night crash along Gibsonton Drive at Mathog Road.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Mark Marzuco was heading east on Gibsonton drive around 6:37 p.m. when he crossed through the Mathog Road intersection in the right-turn-only lane.

As Marzuco continued straight through the intersection on a 2000 Harley Davidson, Michael Moreno, 25, of Riverview was attempting to make a left turn from westbound Gibsonton Drive.

Deputies say Moreno’s 2008 Honda Civic was struck on the left corner by the motorcycle, which was braking at the time. Marzuco was thrown more than 35 feet from his bike.

Deputies say Marzuco, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to Tampa General Hospital where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation. Alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the accident.
