Motorcyclist Killed in U.S. 301 Crash

RIVERVIEW, FL – A 43-year-old Valrico man is dead following a crash on U.S. 301 Friday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Impala driven by Carole Sue Rink, 82, of Brandon was heading south on U.S. 301 in the left turn lane to Summerfield Square Drive around 2:50 p.m. At that time, a motorcycle, driven by Louis Matthew Bruno, was heading north in the center lane.

Troopers say Rink’s Impala turned into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. The bike, a highway patrol report said, hit the passenger side of the Impala.

Bruno was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but later died from his injuries.

Rink and her passenger, Bria Ward, 15, of Tampa, suffered minor injuries.

Charges are pending.
