BLOOMINGDALE, RIVERVIEW, FL — Deputies arrested a 38-year-old Riverview woman on murder and drug-trafficking charges for giving a man drugs earlier this year that resulted in his death, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office news release said.

The victim, who was in his 30s, overdosed on March 8 with the drugs supplied by Chrystal Post, police said.

A witness at the victim's home in the 10000 block of Brucehaven Drive in Riverview told police they went with the victim to purchase heroin from Post at an apartment in the 4700 block of Bristol Bay Way. The victim died that day of an overdose, said authorities.

On March 10, detectives conducted an undercover drug operation and purchased drugs from Post. The next day, investigators say they arrested Post at her home.

At the time of her arrest on March 11, detectives found heroin in a plastic bag in her possession.

Toxicology results revealed that the heroin provided by Post to the victim, in addition to the heroin she possessed at the time of her arrest, was actually a mixture of heroin and fentanyl.

“This case should be a warning to those who seek to use drugs and those who supply it in our community," said Sheriff Chad Chronister is a news release. "There are consequences to both actions. We will continue to aggressively find those who are dealing drugs in Hillsborough County and work hard to make sure they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, including being held accountable for any deaths their self-serving actions cause.”

Post was arrested again on Friday, and police say in working with the state attorney’s office, she was charged with first-degree murder in the victim's overdose death.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said charges for Post on March 11, included:

  • Trafficking in fentanyl
  • Delivery of heroin
  • Possession of dilaudid
  • Possession of alprazolam
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of a drug without a prescription

Due to Marsy's Law, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will not release the name of the victim.
