New Port Richey Man Charged In Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

Hillsborough deputies issued an arrest warrant for Peter Gonzalez, 55, of 4348 Shoreline Drive, New Port Richey, based on forensic evidence.

SUN CITY CENTER, FL – With the help of the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and the New Port Richey Police Department, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has put a suspected bank robber behind bars.

Hillsborough deputies issued an arrest warrant for Peter Gonzalez, 55, of 4348 Shoreline Drive, New Port Richey, based on forensic evidence from the scene of the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank in Sun City Center Monday, May 14.

On Wednesday around 1 p.m., New Port Richey police and Pasco County deputies arrested Gonzalez during a traffic stop at Poinsettia Drive and Grand Boulevard in New Port Richey.

He is currently being held in the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center.

Gonzalez is accused of entering the Wells Fargo Bank in Sun City Center Monday afternoon, passing a note to the teller instructing her to give him money and then fleeing with the cash.

Authorities believe he also may be linked to bank robberies in Sarasota May 3 and Kissimmee May 11 (see related story).
