Newsome Band to Appear in 2016 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The school is one of only 10 selected nationwide to appear.

Newsome High School’s Wolfpack Marching Band’s members have plenty of reasons to be thankful.

The band was selected to appear in the 2016 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Students learned of the selection during a surprise gathering in the Lithia school’s auditorium Monday morning, the district announced on its Facebook page.

The band is one of only 10 in the country selected for the honor in 2016 and the only one from Florida, TBO reported.

Newsome isn’t the first Bay area band to earn the honor of marching in the store’s iconic Thanksgiving Day parade. Tarpon Springs High School’s band made an appearance in 2013.
