No Charges To Be Filed In Fatal Shooting of Riverview Worker

Following a review by the State Attorney's Office, no charges will be filed in connection to the fatal shooting on Riverlachen Way.

RIVERVIEW, FL -- Following a review by the State Attorney's Office, no charges will be filed in connection to the fatal shooting on Riverlachen Way in Riverview on May 8.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office received a call of a shooting around 1:45 p.m. and responded to the 8900 block of Riverlachen Way in Riverview.

The house deputies responded to was under construction. The shooter, 43, who was part of the construction team, said he had just gotten out of his vehicle, was moving his gun from his waist band to his pocket when he accidentally tripped and his gun fired.

The victim, 44, who was working on the roof, was shot. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The shooter told detectives he and the victim are longtime friends.

The sheriff's office has not released the names of those involved in accordance with Marsy's Law that guarantees the anonymity of victims upon request.
