Pregnant Woman Killed in Gibsonton Drive Crash

No charges are expected in the death, which involved a Riverview motorist.

GIBSONTON, FL — A 21-year-old Gibsonton woman is dead following an early Wednesday morning crash on Gibsonton Drive.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Leanna Jean Mammen was walking north across Gibsonton Drive around 6 a.m., leaving the Murphy USA gas station. Mammen had crossed the eastbound lanes and was in the process of walking across the westbound lanes when she was struck by an oncoming car.

Deputies say Isaac Rodriguez Velez, 36, was driving a Nisan Altima westbound in the right through lane at roughly 40 mph when the collision occurred. Velez, the agency wrote in an email, came to a stop and called 911.
