Riverview Charter School Student Arrested For Having Gun In Trunk

A 16-year-old Kids Community College Charter School student has been arrested for bringing a gun to school in the trunk of his car.

RIVERVIEW, FL – A 16-year-old Kids Community College Charter School student has been arrested for bringing a gun to school in the trunk of his car.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was notified around 12:45 Monday, April 30, that a 10th-grader at the school located at 10550 Johanna Ave. in Riverview had a gun in his trunk.

The principal of the school was tipped off about the gun through an email. The principal confronted the student who admitted to having the weapon. A search of his trunk turned up an unloaded Century Arms 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

The student was charged with possessing a firearm on school property. He was transported to the Hillsborough County Juvenile Assessment Center.
