Riverview High Students Win Iron Chef Competition

The team of students beat Durant High last week in a culinary showdown at Rolling Pin Kitchen Emporium

A team of students from won 's Iron Chef competition last week, WTSP.com reports.

The culinary showdown, held April 28 at the Brandon business, pitted students from Riverview and Durant High against one another in creating an appetizer, entree and dessert, each using carrots as a secret ingredient, the news station reports.

The winning team took home more than $1,200 in cookware and kitchen gadgets, plus an 8-inch Wusthof Cook's knife for each team member, according to WTSP. All participants also received a $50 Rolling Pin gift card.

Judging the contest were Jeff Houck, Tampa Tribune food editor; Lynn Kessel, South Shore food blogger; Kelly Legg, Osprey Observer; and Rolling Pin chef Dave West.
