Riverview Honorary Mayor's Race Attracts 3 Candidates

RIVERVIEW, FL – Three candidates have tossed their hats in the ring for a chance to become the next honorary mayor of Riverview and raise funds for their favorite nonprofit organizations.

Candidates for the 2019 title sponsored by the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce are:

• Pearl Chiarenza, Bodyworks Health & Wellness Center
• Kerin Clarkin, Keller Williams - Kerin Realty
• Bill Andrew, Superior Residences of Brandon Memory Care

Andrew is the activities director for Superior Residences of Brandon Memory Care. Funds raised by Andrew will be donated to Seeds of Hope and South County Spartans Athletic Program.

Andrew will host two fundraising events: Bubbly, Bach, Beats and Bon Bons on Aug. 19 and a Mad Hatter Party on Sept. 28.

Chiarenza will raise money for The Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoptive & Foster Families Inc. which she also represents as a chamber member. A portion of the funds she raises will also support the Rotary Club of FishHawk-Riverview Foundation Inc.

Chiarenza will host Coach Bag Bingo on Aug. 27 and a Throw-Back ‘80s Party on Sept. 12.

Clarkin will raise funds to support the Riverview Woman's Club Foundation.

She is planning a Twisted High Tea on Aug.16 and 1885 Day, a Riverview heritage day, on Sept. 22.

The winner -- the candidate who raises the most votes, aka dollars -- will be announced at the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon on Oct. 23 at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road in Riverview from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost for nonmembers to attend is $25.
