Riverview Man Dies When Car Flips Over On I-75

RIVERVIEW, FL — A 50-year-old Riverview man has died following a single-car accident Sunday night on southbound Interstate 75.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 8:50 p.m., John E. Hampton was driving a Cadillac Escalade south in the Interstate 75 exit lane leading to Gibsonton Drive when

traffic in front of him suddenly stopped. Hampton swerved to avoid a rear end collision and lost control. He entered the inside shoulder and collided with a concrete traffic barrier. The Escalade flipped over and Hampton was ejected. He died at the scene.
