Riverview Man Killed in Fiery Falkenburg Road Crash

Riverview, FL — A 37-year-old Riverview man is dead following a Wednesday evening crash on Falkenburg Road near Majestic Magnolia Place.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Anthony Jason Garrido was heading south on Falkenburg Road around 5:45 p.m. in a Lexus registered to Gulf Maintenance Inc. Deputies say Garrido was traveling at a high rate of speed when he drove off the road, into the median and struck a tree.

“The vehicle subsequently caught on fire while the operator was still trapped inside,” an email from the sheriff’s office said.

Garrido died at the scene, deputies said.

Positive identification was pending the outcome of autopsy results. The sheriff’s office said Garrido’s identity was confirmed through dental records Thursday.
