Riverview Man Killed in U.S. 301 Crash

A 55-year-old Riverview man is dead following a Monday night crash on U.S. 301 near Gibsonton Drive.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Diana Jensen, 78, of Riverview was heading south on U.S. 301 around 8 p.m. as a pedestrian was leaving a BP Gas Station at the intersection of Balm Riverview Road and U.S. 301.

The pedestrian, identified as Jose Fernado Soriano, tried to cross U.S. 301 outside of the crosswalk and walked into the path of Jensen’s vehicle, the patrol wrote in a report. The Ford Ranger struck Soriano, who was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

No charges are anticipated.
