Riverview Woman Tied To Fatal Hit-And-Run, Troopers Say
The Monday morning crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge left a Tampa man dead.
TAMPA, FL — A 43-year-old tow truck driver from Tampa is dead following a Monday morning crash on the Howard Frankland Bridge.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Allison Faye Huffman, 36, of Riverview was heading north on Interstate 275 around 2:22 a.m. As Huffman’s Volkswagen Passat moved in the outside travel lane south of State Road 60, a tow truck driver was standing outside of his 2015 Dodge Ram truck. The truck was in a parked position on the outside shoulder.
As the Volkswagen passed the truck, its front struck the man, who was thrown in a southeasterly direction. The man, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene from his injuries, a highway patrol report said.

Huffman, the patrol said, fled the scene. Her car was later located at the Crown Plaza Hotel near Westshore Mall.
Charges are pending.
