Robber Killed By Lithia Woman During Home Invasion

​A robber was fatally shot by a homeowner Wednesday night after breaking into a house in Lithia.

LITHIA, FL —A robber was fatally shot by a homeowner Wednesday night after breaking into a house in Lithia.

Deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Old Welcome Road at 8:44 p.m. Oct. 30 for a report of a home invasion.

The homeowners said two men broke into the home, made demands and attacked the man in the house. The woman homeowner grabbed a gun and shot one of the robbers. Both robbers fled.

The robber that was shot was found dead in a ditch near the house.

Aviation and K9 units are searching for the other robber.

The male homeowner was transported to Tampa General Hospital and is in stable condition.

At this time, detectives do not believe this was a random attack.

"I would encourage if any of the neighbors see any suspicious vehicles or anybody walking around the neighborhood that they do not recognize to please call 911," said Maj. Frank Losat with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

He also said neighbors should be on the lookout for unfamiliar vehicles parked in the area.
