Riverview, FL – April 1, 2014 - RVR Horse Rescue

Cruelty to Animals®) national Help A Horse Day on April 26 and competing for a

Stories” horse parade to the new barn ribbon cutting with Honorary Mayor of
Brandon, Jack Bartlett. Featuring a tough mucker “Run-A-Muck" obstacle

This
nationwide competition is for equine rescues to raise awareness about the
lifesaving work sanctuaries do year-round to care for at-risk horses in their
community who have been abused or neglected. Horses have been central to the
ASPCA’s work since its founding 148 years ago, when Henry Bergh stopped a cart
driver from beating his horse, resulting in the first successful arrest for the
mistreatment of a horse on April 26, 1866.

“Celebrating our
annual Awareness Day along with the ASPCA’s Help A Horse Day is a great way for
us to raise awareness and educate the
community, not only about at risk horses, but all animals,” said Shawn Jayroe,
President and founder of RVR Horse Rescue, an all-volunteer organization. RVR’s
mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome neglected or abused horses but education
is also key to Jayroe.

“With horses, people don’t
always know what to do if they see something wrong or they think somebody else
will do it” she said.  Last year, RVR launched
a campaign called C.L.E.A.R. (Care, Learn, Educate, Act and Rescue) to help educate
the public on how to help.  “C.L.E.A.R. provides contact information on its website
for services across Florida that protect abused animals. “It gives people
information about what to do when they see animal abuse and lets them know
there is somewhere to go to figure it out,” said Jayroe.

Come enjoy a day of
fun and games and help RVR win a $10,000 grant from the ASPCA. Sponsorship packages are available.  The doors open
at 12 noon and parking is free.  Register
for the “Run-A-Muck” obstacle course or just enjoy a beautiful day outdoors
with live music and fun for both kids and adults alike.
