Sidekicks Teaches Accountibility in July
Students will study, develop and experience life lessons focusing on accountability.

News Report
July 2012 is Accountability Month as part of Powerful Words Character Development program.
Students will study, develop and experience life lessons focusing on the Powerful Character Trait of Accountability. In addition to all of the physical skills that they'll be developing this month, students will discuss and practice the following concepts that will help them to understand and realize the value and benefits of becoming a person who is accountable and responsible for his/her actions, and the effect it has on them and everybody they interact with.

Students will focus on the following topics both in and out of class:
- Accountability defined: What is it and when do we use it?
- Good Choices, Bad Choices: Rewards and consequences of our actions.
- Looking back and forward: Admitting and fixing mistakes.
- Accountability partners: Staying on track with our goals.
“Being an accountable person takes courage. Many people fear the consequences of their mistakes and choose to blame others rather than be accountable for their choices. Others get so caught up in feeling like their mistakes are a reflection of their own intelligence that they are quick to berate themselves rather than take productive action,” said Dr. Robyn Silverman, Sidekicks’ child and adolescent expert, and creator of the Powerful Words Character Development system used at the facility.

"This month is going to be life changing for so many of our members as we focus this entire month on helping them to really become accountable for all of their actions," said Manny Cabrera III, chief instructor of Sidekicks Family Martial Arts Center, 16633 FishHawk Blvd., Lithia. "We pride ourselves on building champions from the inside out...and being an accountable person is one of the many skills our members are proud to hone and display. Many of our families tell us that lessons like this are a natural part of what makes our academy so unique and valuable. Our students learn how to become the kind of person that they themselves would look up to."
