Tampa Bay Healthcare Workers Face Administrative Action

Florida state health officials issued emergency suspension or restriction orders against four Tampa Bay healthcare workers in February.

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Florida state health officials issued emergency suspension or restriction orders against Tampa Bay healthcare workers last month, according to the Florida Department of Health. The agency said that such violations can include the commission of crimes, violations of standards of care, drug use, impairment, drug diversion, sexual misconduct or student loan defaults. The agency did not release specific details on each case.

Overall, the state agency issued 39 emergency suspension orders or emergency restriction orders during February for serious violations, officials said.

Each person named by the agency is entitled to a hearing before final action is taken by a regulatory board or by the department, according to state health officials.
