Teen Injured in Home Invasion, Shooting

The incident happened early Friday morning in Riverview.

A 14-year-old boy was shot at four times during an early morning home invasion in the Riverview area.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was home alone around 2:47 a.m. when he heard noises in his house. The teen was walking down the stairs to investigate the source of the noises when he was approached by two males wearing masks.

The men, an email from the sheriff’s office said, proceeded to fire at the teenager four times.

“The victim ran back up the stairs and hid in a closet,” the email said. The men are then accused of taking electronics from the home on Deep Maple Drive and then fleeing out the back sliding glass door.

Deputies say the men went through a neighbor’s yard and got into a light green Volkswagen Beetle.

The teenager was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of injuries that are believed to not life-threatening, the agency noted.
