Sheriff Identifies Man Who Drowned In Alafia River
Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the drowning of a Riverview man in the Alafia River July 8.

RIVERVIEW, FL – Hillsborough County Sheriff’s detectives have released the name of the man who drowned in the Alafia River in Riverview Sunday night, July 8.
The sheriff’s office received a 911 call at about 6 p.m. from someone saying they could hear a male in the river yelling for help.
Deputies responded to the vicinity of 8763 Barcin Circle and could not locate anyone.

The Sheriff’s Office Underwater Recovery Team began searching and recovered the body of Michael Keith Berra, 32, a short while later.
The Hillsborough Medical Examiner ruled his death an accidental drowning.

According to his Facebook page, Berra attended East Bay High School. He had no known address at the time of his death.
