Utility Truck Driver Dies After Crash With FedEx Trailer: Police

Florida Highway Patrol say a crash in Riverview killed a man who worked as a utility truck driver and collided with a FedEx trailer.

RIVERVIEW, FL — A 20-year-old utility power truck driver died after his vehicle was southbound on U.S. Highway 301 when it crashed into the back of a FedEx trailer on Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The FedEx truck was stopped in the right lane on U.S. 301 southbound at the intersection of Simmons Loop in Riverview.

Authorities said the 20-year-old Riverview man did not slow down or stop for the FedEx truck, and this caused him to crash into the back of the trailer.

He was taken to a local hospital by a medical helicopter where he later died of his injuries, said authorities.

The FedEx driver did not experience any injuries.

The name of the victim will not be released by the Florida Highway Patrol due to Marsy's Law.
