Valrico Woman Charged With Selling Phony Car Insurance Policies

The 29-year-old was arrested by the Florida Department of Financial Services/Frauid Division July 14.

A Valrico woman has been arrested for selling phony insurance policies to area car owners, according to a press release issued by Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater's office.

Keaira F. Tiller, 29, 2106 Ridgemore Drive, Valrico, was arrested on July 14 by the Department of Financial Services/Fraud Division after selling a fraudulent auto insurance card to a detective with that agency, according to CFO press secretary Alexis Lambert. She was subsequently released on her own recognizance.

The department has identified at least seven victims who purchased bogus insurance cards from Tiller. She claimed to represent Agency Insurance of Maryland, Sentry, Equity and Kingsway Amigo.

"These people were basically just printing out insurance cards that they sold for $200 to $300 a pop," said Detective Kevin Morris of the Division of Insurance Fraud.

Morris says they are looking for more suspects and more victims in the case.

"There are hundreds and hundreds of victims out there who have no idea they don't have insurance," said Morris.
